"Madcap Mosaic is an exciting fresh roguelike - there are crazy combos, many different strategies to explore, and a wonderful mix of control and uncertainty in play. I believe this game could inspire many others, there are a lot of possibilities with the 'mosaic' approach." -Richard GarfieldMadcap Mosaic is a roguelike tile-drafting/deckbuilding game. It takes the cards out of your hand and puts them on the table. Your deck is now the board, and you move your avatar across the board using your tiles as you go. This drastically changes the gameplay and sets it apart from other games of the genre. Classic mechanics of the genre are warped or replaced entirely, and what's left is a game in a genre lots of us love that manages to find its own special niche.A random selection from the 170+ unique tiles forms a tile Lattice each game. Rather than choosing from 3 random tiles each battle, you'll return to this Lattice and branch out to reach farther tiles. This is the drafting segment, and it is a mix of skill-tree, deckbuilding, and drafting. Seeing your options, determining your path, and knowing when to adapt is key! After selecting new tiles, you bring your Mosaic to the next battle and put it to the test. Bolstered by 2 random traits each run (out of a pool of 80+), you'll need to come up with a plan and execute it if you want to survive the gauntlet of monsters. There are many strategies to discover, experiment with, and push to their limits. A wide variety of unlockable tiles, traits, and aesthetic options reward your success, open up new strategies, and deepen others.

Steve Mount, who lives next door, has watched the venture from the beginning and even advised Aziz on the grape motif for the Farnams' picture window, next to the mosaic apple tree worthy of Genesis. "I'll be out gardening and people will screech to a halt," Mount said. "It's a wonderful conversation-starter."
Walk along the side wall and behold plates with peacocks, lighthouses, palm trees and a kitten drowsing in a basket of yarn. A Delft-style tile with windmills stands out, as do mosaics of Shamu the orca, a unicorn, mountains, rivers and menorahs to honor the family's Jewish faith. There are tiles signifying the ocean: a seashell, a puffy fish, the scutes of a turtle's shell.
The Farnams' madcap affair with mosaics began as an inside job. When another son, Ryan, was in fourth grade at Franklin Elementary School, Louise volunteered to help make mosaic items to sell at the school's Halloween carnival and fundraiser.
At some point, Amiel talked his parents into turning the low retaining wall in front of their garden into a mosaic. Once that project was completed, he suggested they remove some faded Mexican tiles from the front of the house. With the tiles gone, the exterior urgently needed patching and painting. "Why bother?" Amiel recalled telling his parents. "Just cover it with mosaic."
On weekends, Amiel recalled, Aziz would eat breakfast and then create mosaics until the sun went down, stopping only for lunch. The work became therapeutic as the recession tamped down his import business.
The Law of Mosaics with the Oregon Symphony brings together four centuries of music and considers the ways in which artists, by engaging with each other across time, help us to better understand ourselves, and the world. Framing the program is a "classical symphony," stitched together from the work of four composers from the past: C.P.E. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, W.A. Mozart, and Louise Farrenc. Interspersed between each movement are four pieces from some of the most imaginative composers of our time which explore a musical collage in a variety of ways, mining memory, madcap humor, and ghostly nostalgia.

Zagar, now 82, grew up in Brooklyn, studied art in college, and served in the Peace Corps in Peru alongside his wife, Julia. The couple settled in Philadelphia in the late 1960s. I'm a mosaic artist, and I want to make a difference in the world through my art. I'm a middle-aged human with 4 teenagers, an interesting tattoo and significant eyebrows. I'm creative, corny, contemplative, and crazy. I'm an introvert who loves people but needs quiet time to create art in order to feel whole. I put a little bit of my soul in each project I do. My shihtzu Lily would tell you I'm stingy with treats (I'm not!) and my husband would tell you I don't do enough laundry. My kids might tell you they want me to stop asking for cool mom points for Christmas. I will tell you I'm just a person trying to overcome the struggles of life by creating art. I believe in the power of art to transform lives because it has transformed mine. I would love to create a custom piece of mosaic art for you, your company or your home. From wall art to giant murals, I will create something beautiful for you. In return, I will let you give me large sums of money. Sound fair?
Four decades ago, Gary Bielefeld may not have had a bald spot to be concerned about when he and a clutch of his Kentucky Wesleyan College student volunteers installed the original Kentucky mirror mosaic over a period of about four months.
